Tarte 'Tartelette' Eyeshadow Palette

Living in the UK makes me feel like I'm missing out on so many amazing makeup brands that aren't available in this country. Tarte are a American brand and although they provide international shipping I've just never taken the plunge to make an order due to shipping and customs costs. Like seriously if you get caught with customs they charge you £8 on top of whatever the customs charge is as a handling fee?! Royal Mail are making a bomb from it but it's just not cool. When I saw another blogger selling the Tartelette Eyeshadow Palette I jumped at the chance to buy it.

The 'Tartelette' palette is an all matte palette consisting of 12 shades arranged in 3 rows of complimentary colours. The packaging is some of the best I've seen as it's incredibly beautiful, sturdy and the perfect size for travelling. For me this palette is an absolute dream even though it's a warm toned palette and I definitely suit more cool toned shades it's still everything I could ask for in a palette. The shades are all neutral shades which I love because I find colourful mattes very very hard to wear but that's just personal preference as I am a neutrals kinda gal.

All the shadows are extremely pigmented which is so hard to find in matte palettes as there is always at least one or two that just aren't up to the quality of the rest of the shadows. It's very rare that you find a matte palette that you can swatch and every shade shows up on your skin but it's even rarer to find a palette that has a perfect black shade. Out of all the palettes I own this definitely has the most opaque, easy to work black eyeshadow. Matte shades are hardwork, they take time to blend and they're definitely not easy to use for a quick eye look most of the time but I found all these shadows buttery and easier to blend than most mattes.  I'm 99% sure that they're better than my Urban Decay mattes and they've been my holy grail for so long so that's definitely a massive statement from me.

All Matte Eyeshadow Palette Tarte Tartelette Review

Tarte have killed the matte eyeshadow game by creating this palette and I find myself reaching for it every single day. I'd class it as an essential palette in my stash now as it's daytime friendly but any look can easily be made more night time friendly with the darker shades to the right of the palette. Or if you can rock a dark smokey eye in the middle of the day you do that shit because you are awesome. I am now in need of the Tartelette In Bloom Palette as that is equally as pretty.

Also can we all just appreciate how beautiful these photos are?! I am in love with my new camera. Is it okay to be in love with an intimate object or?

P.S Blog posts have been rare due to life being like 'eat, sleep, work, gym, repeat' but after I move in two weeks things should finally have some order around here!

Foundations Currently On Trial

Being as pale as a vampire makes foundation shopping extremely hard; especially in high street stores so when I find something that works I like to stick to it. I'm not one to change up my makeup routine very often but after going through my makeup collection and finding at least 5 unused foundations I thought it was about time to put some of them to the test.

L'Oreal Infallible Matte | I know this is a foundation that has featured a few times on my blog before and I absolutely loved it back then but I fell out of love with it a few months back. As I never did a full review as such I thought I'd trial it again and hope to fall back in love with what used to be my holy grail. After trying it out again over the past two weeks I've rekindled my love and this is now my everyday foundation. I'm a matte foundation kinda gal; always have been, always will be. This is perfect for creating a flawless base as it evens out skin tone and sits perfectly on the skin without feeling heavy and cakey. The only problem I have with this foundation is that it is slightly too dark, I'm very pale and the chances of me getting a tan anytime soon are minimal so I'll be sticking this back in my makeup drawer for when I eventually get round to fake tanning or hopping on a plane to catch some rays.

Rimmel Wake Me Up | This used to be one of my favourite foundations back when I first started my blog along with Rimmel's Match Perfection but they never quite had a light enough shade for me in the Wake Me Up range. Eventually they realised that there really are some girls as pale as a sheet so they brought out a Porcelain shade which is still slightly too dark but it'll do. Wake Me Up is my go to foundation for that rare occasion that I want dewy skin. It leaves the skin looking healthy and glowing which is perfect for these summer months, I wear it with a hell of a lot of bronzer and highlight for that perfect summer glow. I find this foundation works best with a beauty blender as my foundation brushes left a few streaks and nobody wants to rock that streaky look. I'm not a massive fan of this foundation anymore due to my love of all things matte but if you love to shine bright like a diamond then I'd definitely recommend this.

L'oreal True Match | After seeing everyone and their nan absolutely love this foundation I just had to pick it up. The shade range is incredible and there really is something for everyone. I had a hard time working out exactly what shade I needed as there are just so many! I went for Rose Ivory which is the lightest shade. I've been wearing this on days that I want something a little lighter than L'Oreal's Infallible Matte Foundation as it feels like you're not wearing foundation at all but has a very build-able coverage. With summer starting to show up a little bit at the moment, this is perfect for the warmer days when you still want some coverage but don't want to feel like your face is melting from too much makeup.

What's your current go to foundation?
